Some people think their family is made of pets, and some people are animals…
This is a page about… The furry wonders who have been in my life, to date.
Pepper – Pepper was a little black and white terrier puppy. A sweet little bundle that wasn’t meant to be ours for too long. One day, my father’s parents came over to the house, and before Pepper was able to be wrangled, out he ran through the door, to never be seen again.
Pepper, the Second – Also a black and white terrier, and he was a Momma Puppy. He attached himself to my mother, and protected her (or us) even when we didn’t need to be protected. He lived a long life. As he aged, he went blind, and his spine had arthritis, and though he wanted so badly to be petted, you couldn’t for you would hurt him. My mother loved him a lot, but had me take him to the vet to put to sleep. But, that is ok, cause I was the last to see him, and, he and I shared that last memory.
Snooks – Snooks was a orange tabby cat that my sister and I found while visiting my favorite place, Krohn Conservatory with my Dad. It was one of our first visitations with him since the divorce, and I remember ordering fish for lunch at some restaurant. I didnt like fish then, but I was going to give it to the cat anyways.
Cherry – Cherry was a pale orange tabby, who I talked my Dad into getting for me, without telling anyone. I was living at my Grandparent’s house by then, and wanted a pet so badly. And she was such a good cat… Until she was spotted by my Grandmother, and we both had to move back in with my mother. (My Grandma hated animals, having been chased by wild dogs as a child, or so I have been told.)
Taylor, a.k.a. Ta-Ta – Long haired tortoise colored cat. This one was chosen by my husband, Cliff. He hated that the cat loved me. She was a sweet quiet cat, except sometimes she would cry and meow cause she has determined I hadn’t given her enough attention lately. When I left Cincinnati, Ta-Ta, Scouty, and Smudge moved to Pennsylvania to live with my friend, but Ta-Ta ran out the door one day, and wasn’t seen again.
Scouty – Scouty we got at the same time as Ta-Ta, and she was my baby. She shadowed me, and was always with me. She loved to sit on my shoulder as I would walk around the house, and she was just my baby. She was a black and white tuxedo cat. And I loved her very much. A few months after she moved to Pennsylvania, she got sick, and they found cancer, and she died, but I think of her often still.
Yoda – Yoda was a all black cat who walked into my workplace, during a thunderstorm. And we only knew he was there at first for the little path of wet paw prints. He had these two little bald spots on his head next to his ears, which is why I called him Yoda. His favorite toy was a brown terry cloth mouse toy from Hertz™. He wouldn’t play with any others, but that brown one. And he would throw it across the room, and then play with it, and when it was played with too much, he would put it in my laundry, and I would have to wash it. He loved that mouse. One day, I was having cable installed at my new house, and the moron !@#$! left my back door wide open, and Yoda went out onto my back porch. Yoda was always skittish… So, he ran away when I tried to get him to come back, and I never saw him again.
Smudge – Smudge was a little gray fuzzball… and… for some reason, I can’t remember how I got him. But I loved him. He was such a stinker, and was “the boss” though he was the littlest of them all.
Little Bit – A white terrier, owned by my wonderful sister-mother, Sherry. He was a OLD old white dog, blind as a bat, and deaf as all get out. But he could find me whenever I went into the yard. He is gone now, passed away in the winter, but he was loved.
Barbie – A white Pekingese who thinks I am the world. I spoil her. A lot. She is great, but not smart.
Gizmo – A “pekapoodle” and he is spoiled as well. He is 13 years old, and enjoying life.
Picachu – This dog is a mess. The only son of Barbie and Gizmo… and a royal mess. Loves balls, and attention.
Itchy & Scratchy – These two cats I list together, cause we got them together, and they are from the same litter. They are tabby cats, and Scratchy is fat and LAZY! She weighs near on 30 lbs! Itchy, she loves me, comes when I call her, is a great mouser, and thinks she is a dog. (Even steals dog treats.)
Barney – He is a white and orange tabby, and he is mine. Or I am his… He follows me around, everywhere I go, and loves me to death.
Phineas a.k.a. Meeps – Meeps was a black and white Maine Coon. Both he and Barney were rescued from the ASPCA. Meeps was a love bug. He LOVED Sherry. And he loved to be petted. And he owned the house. He was a good mouser, and he was loved. One day in February, he got up, like he always did, came down for breakfast, and then went back up to sleep in the bed he claimed as his. Sherrry’s bed. He curled up, and went to sleep. About a hour later, we found him still there… he had passed away in his sleep.
There is the tale of the tails… the furry loves of my life…
